If you can't have a pet because your house is too small or because animals give you health problems like asthma and allergies, why not get a virtual pet?
Virtual pets are a new "breed" of creatures created through a mix of computer technology, gaming and robotics. They are not real animals, so you don't have to worry about feeding them, giving them a bath or cleaning up their mess. Often, these creatures just require their owner to give them some form of caring and attention--just like real pets do.
Virtual pets come in different forms. An online of digital pets live on virtual pet websites. If you want an online pet, you must first register with a virtual pet website and choose a virtual pet of your own. To visit your "pet", you must log-in to this website.
Online pets are computer generated. A point system determines the growth of a pet. For examples, if you fail to "feed" your pet and it gets hungry, you will lose points. You earn points by training your pet and feeding it with foods.
Virtual pets get more intelligent as technology improves. They may be a good alternative for pets, but of course, nothing can replace the love and affection that real animals can give.
